Templates are pre-designed files that you or someone else (like Microsoft) generates to use as a pattern for a project. The template could be for a business card, brochure, resume, presentation. . .the list goes on. Regardless of the purpose, templates offer the plan consistency that any company (or person ) needs to look professional. (you could also find templates for Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications, but in this article we are focusing on Microsoft Word.)
The template includes a particular layout, design, design and, occasionally, text and fields which are common to each use of that template. Some templates are so complete (for instance, business cards), you only have to alter somebody’s name, phone number, and email address. Others, like company reports or brochures, could require that everything is changed except the design and layout.
As soon as you make a template, then you may use it repeatedly. Bear in mind that while you open a template to start a job, you save the job as a different file type, like the simple .docx Word format, such as editing, sharing, printing, and much more. The template file stays the same, unless or until you want to alter it (more on that later).
Customized templates can be as simple or complicated as needed. By way of example, you might create a template for your company’s newsletter, posters for a conference, or even invitations for corporate occasions. You can also produce interactive templates to load the Intranet, so others can fill in the blanks to print their own envelopes and letterhead, for instance.
First, produce a document–layout and format , add graphics and photos. If it’s interactive, select Controls from the Developer tab and create custom input fields for user interaction.
Some templates use interactive controls for user input. For example, imagine that after a month, the division managers, assistant managers, and loan originators of a large banking institution have a meeting at one of the 12 branches. It’s your assistant’s job to email the date, time, location, speakers, topics, and the agenda to every attendee. Instead of having that person retype the information at a normal template, you can make a template where options can be chosen from a listing.
Templates allow you to configure all of the applicable settings you want pre-applied to documents–page design, styles, formatting, tabs, boilerplate text, etc. You may then easily create a new document based on that template.
After you save a document as a template, you can then use that template to make new documents. Those new files contain all the text (and images( and other content) that the template contains. They also have the same page layout settings, sections, and fashions as the template. Templates can save a great deal of time when you’re creating multiple files which need to have a consistent design, format, and a few boilerplate text.
