Templates are pre-designed documents that you or somebody else (such as Microsoft) generates to use as a blueprint for a job. The template may be for a business card, brochure, resume, presentation. . .the list continues. Regardless of the purpose, templates offer the design consistency which any organization (or person ) needs to look professional. (You can also find templates for Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications, but in this guide we are focusing on Microsoft Word.)
The template contains a specific layout, style, design and, sometimes, text and fields which are common to every use of that template. Some templates are so complete (for instance, business cards), you only need to alter somebody’s name, phone number, and email address. Others, such as business reports or brochures, could demand that everything is altered except the layout and design.
As soon as you make a template, you may use it repeatedly. Remember that while you open a template to initiate a project, you save the project as another file type, like the simple .docx Word structure, such as editing, sharing, printing, and much more. The template file remains the same, unless or until you wish to change it (more on that later).
Customized templates can be as simple or complex as needed. By way of example, you might create a template for your company’s newsletter, posters for a conference, or even invitations for corporate occasions. You could also create interactive templates to load the Intranet, so others may fill in the blanks to publish their own envelopes and letterhead, as an example.
First, produce a document–design and format it, add images and photos. If it’s interactive, then pick Controls in the Developer tab and create custom input fields for user interaction.
Some templates utilize interactive controls for user input. By way of example, imagine that once a month, the division managers, assistant managers, and loan originators of a large banking institution have a meeting at one of the 12 branches. It is your helper’s job to email the date, time, location, speakers, themes, and the agenda to each attendee. Rather than have that individual retype the data at a normal template, you can create a template where options can be selected from a list.
Templates let you configure all of the relevant settings you want pre-applied to documents–page design, styles, formatting, tabs, boilerplate text, and so on. You may then easily make a new file based on that template.
After you save a document as a template, you can then use that template to create new files. Those new files include all of the text (and images, and other content) that the template contains. They also have the same page layout settings, sections, and fashions as the template. Templates can save a lot of time when you’re creating numerous files which have to get a consistent design, format, and some boilerplate text.
